That’s a broad strategy for finding and utilizing all the existing and prospective capacities in a region of some significant size that could unfortunately leave no room for any other industrial electrification in the region. Big company with money bags get their capacity cheaply but any additional regional growth then has to carry the cost up upgrades, not shared by the big data center. Seems like there will be some regulatory pressure applied eventually after such results are observed in a few locations.

It’s still so funny to me the way your guests talk about Cooperatives. “A small rural Cooperative with 1.5 GW of peak demand” is not small! That’s significantly bigger than the biggest Cooperative in Ohio. I do planning and engineering for Cooperatives whose systems peak at 20 MW!
