I served as Policy Advisor to one of the last pro-solar commissioners, and almost ran for the commission myself in 2014 -- the year that APS spent a stunning $11 MILLION on the race. No wonder: APS profits DOUBLED from 2012-2018, that is what a "friendly" commission will get you!
You said the word "solar!" Seems to be taboo now. In this whole pod, solar was mentioned exactly ONE time. "Clean" comes in at 31 times. It's Ari-frigging-zona! If your going to make affordable, clean electricity, there's really just one way.
I know there is one yuge nuke, but there ain't any water for any more. It may also be taboo, but to me it's a mark of realism in the West to farm electrons on land that needs to be fallowed because there just isn't six feet of water per year available, from the ground or the river, to spray over the whole million acres going forward. If someone wants a win-win and good optics go stand by the tomatoes growing under solar with half the water at U-AZ's SALSA agrivoltaics lab. But like all purrrfect solar, it can add too much cost, compared to yuge, beautiful solar farms. Lots of disinformation to contradict, but if no one even says the name, that information wins.
